Meet the Team Behind Vertical Flow Industries

Scott Freeman
Managing Partner

Scott Freeman is the founder of Vertical Flow Industries and has over 30 years of experience in the pump industry. Scott began working in the pump industry at an early age, spending his high school summers working at American Turbine Pump Co. American Turbine Pump Co. was a Vertical Turbine Pump manufacturer selling agricultural, municipal, and industrial markets. Later, Scott worked at outside sales for American Turbine Pump Co. in the Houston office. Since his American Turbine days, Scott has specialized his pump experience working as a Manufacturer’s Representative selling multiple lines in the municipal water treatment market. Scott’s last stop before founding Vertical Flow Industries was Service Manager for Alsay, Inc, the largest independent municipal/industrial water well contractor in the state of Texas. During his tenure at Alsay Inc, Scott managed the Houston service department with average revenue of 8 million per year.

Based on 30+ years of experience; Scott understands your needs when working on a project. He prioritizes working with customers to size, quote pumps, and respond in a timely manner. Scott founded Vertical Flow with the idea to make doing business easier than the larger Corporate Pump companies and their bureaucratic policies.

Brett Patterson
General Manager

Brett has been in the vertical turbine pump manufacturing industry since 1982, where he started with American Turbine Pump Company in Houston, TX as a machinist. ATP was a small manufacturer and thus Brett wore many hats with ATP. Assembly of new pumps, disassembly of repairs, cut and straighten shafts, static balance impellers, operated engine lathes, vertical turret lathes, mills, etc. You name it, he has done it. Eventually worked his way up to Shop Lead, Shop Supervisor and then Branch Manager. Again, being a small facility Brett wore many hats as the Branch Manager from customer service, engineering, outside sales, etc. ATP Houston territory was large and included any state that touched the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean. Brett spent 30 years working for ATP.

National Pump Company purchased ATP in 2012. Brett’s role remained as Branch Manager after the NPC purchase. Territory was reduced considerably, but he continued to be key in the internal manufacturing side, as well as the face of the branch externally with engineering firms and customers.

Brett moved on from NPC to work for his biggest customer with ATP and NPC, Alsay, Inc. Alsay, Inc. is one of the largest well drillers in the Houston and San Antonio areas.

Brett brings 40 years of experience in the VTP industry, supplying engineered pumps to many markets – agricultural, municipal, HVAC, golf course irrigation, industrial, etc. Brett has a great customer service background and is now ready to bring this to Vertical Flow Industries, as well as all other facets of his experience in the industry.
